PADI Courses Ladder
If you do not have a diving certificate but wanted to have a look and see what the underwater world of the Komodo National Park is offering, you might think about participating in a one-day experience, which is called introductory diving.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater. If you want to find out but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving will let you try scuba to see if you like it.

While not an actual scuba certification, during the Discover Scuba Diving experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world of the Komodo National Park.

There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It takes a little getting used to –after all, human beings weren’t designed to do that but after a few minutes of awestruck wonder, most participants realize how easy scuba diving really is.

You will get a theory and practical preparation and then be taken out in the shallow water to get used to the equipment and breathing under water in general. Once you feel confident enough to try some “real” scuba diving, we will take you on a diving cruise on one of our boats. Due to this you will not miss out on some of the best dive sites the world has to offer.

The cost is 140 US$/person, including:

  • Theory/practical preparation
  • All equipment needed
  • Tanks, weights and weight belt
  • Three supervised open water dives
  • Student insurance

This course is called “advanced” not because you need to be advanced to sign up, but because this course further advances on the dive skills you learned when you did your PADI Open Water course.

The advanced open water course is focused on improving your practical dive skills, and so majority of the teaching is done in practical dive sessions. This course consists of five modules, each of which includes an ocean dive and a theory session. The flexibility of this course and the ability to pick and choose modules allow you to tailor the course to your individual needs and interests. There are two core required modules, and then the remaining three are electives.

CORE MODULES

PADI Deep Dive – This dive teaches you the basics of diving to 30m of depth, and how to recognize and respond to the considerations of diving deeper than your Open Water limits.

PADI Underwater Navigation dive – This dive teaches you the principles of underwater navigation, including compass use, distance estimation and the difficulties involved with navigating underwater.

ELECTIVE MODULES

Any three of the following can be chosen depending on interest, weather and availability:

PADI Night Dive – Highly recommended as an elective, this teaches the basics of night diving.

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy dive – This elective is one of the most popular as it helps divers fine tune buoyancy skills including weight distribution, correct weighting, diving profile, safety stop skills, and general diving skills.

PADI Enriched Air Nitrox – Learn the benefits of adjusting your oxygen & nitrogen content, as well as giving you longer bottom times on dives.

PADI Boat Dive – A relaxing dive at the end of the course for those who have worked hard to master and improve on new skills, this allows you to practice what you have learnt throughout the course, while diving in some of the most spectacular underwater scenery at the “Komodo National Park”
